Physical Description: 

Apple trees are medium sized and tend to have a dense, twiggy crown. The leaves are slightly fuzzy on the underside with serrated on the edges. In spring, the apple blossoms with white five-petaled blooms tinged with pink.

Usage: 

Apples are a great "pocket fruit", and can be dried, cooked into pie or sauce, juiced. In a root cellar, they have a good storage life.

Apples are one of the most widely cultivated trees worldwide; there are over 7,500 cultivars of apples in a variety of colors, sizes and flavors, from the green Granny Smith to the gargantuan Howgate Wonder. Because there are many cultivars, there were historical strains of apple adapted to specific local climates and conditions. Apple trees are members of the rose family originating in Central Asia. They are deciduous, so leaves and fruit fall off at the end of their season.
