Apricot

Latin Name:

Prunus armeniaca

Physical Description:

Apricots are orangey-red fruits covered with a soft fuzz. Apricots grow on medium-size trees with a broad canopy.

Usage:

They are commonly eaten fresh, dried, and used to make preserves and sauces. In central Asia and parts of the Mediterranean, people eat the seeds inside the pit in place of almonds. They have traditionally been used as a cure for constipation, as well as an aphrodisiac - what a combo, eh?
