The diminutive citrus Calamasi tree is usually a shrub. Fruit resembles a small, round lime, but is has a thin orange, yellow or greenish peel like a tangerine.
Usage:
Calamansi fruit can be made into a marmalade. The juice is delicious and used in beverages such as tea, lemonade and infusions with vodka and sugar, and it can also be used to marinate and season meat, fish and fowl.
Factoids:
It is most widely eaten in the Philippines, where it is also used as a deodorant, whitening agent, detergent and degreaser.
