Physical Description:
Cherries are sweet, tangy, globular fruits and may grow on medium sized trees with dark trunks. In the spring time, cherry trees are laden with fragrant blossoms.
Usage:
Cherries are most commonly eaten raw. Pitted, they can be dried, cooked down for jams and syrups or made into pies. One type, sour cherries are quite rare but are rated highly with baked good connoisseurs.

Cherries are members of the Prunus family, along with plums, apricots and almonds.
