Usage:
Chestnuts are commonly eaten roasted, after scoring the hard shell. They also can be dried and ground into a nutritious flour for making long-lasting bread or cakes. They can be boiled.
Factoids:
Chestnuts were the original ingredient in polenta before corn was introduced to Europe.
