Physical Description:
Dates grow on a date palm, which looks like the typical palm tree. There are three cultivar groups, based on texture: dry, such as Thoory, semi-dry, such as Dayri, Deglet Noor, ad Zahidi, and soft such as Barhee, Halawy, Khadrawy and Medjool.
Usage:
Dates have four stages of ripeness, known by their Arabic names: kimri (unripe), khalal (full-size and crunchy), rutab (ripe and soft) and tamr (ripe and sun-dried). They typically are eaten sun-dried.
