Physical Description:
Grapefruit trees tend to be medium sized, and have large dark-green-on-top, grey-green-on-bottom leaves. Grapefruits are pink-orange or yellow citrus with thick skins.
Usage:
Grapefruit is like your best friend in high school: large, thick-skinned, full of sweetness mixed with a hint of bitterness. They are great juiced, eaten raw or added to salad. The zest can be added to muffins and other breads, and used to marinate meats.
Factoids:
When the citrus hybrid Grapefruit was first discovered in Barbados, it was called the "forbidden fruit".
