Physical Description:
Mangos grow on large evergreen trees with long, shiny leaves. When the leaves are young they are orange pink, then deep red, finally turning glossy green.
Usage:
Popular in many cuisines; mangos can be juiced, sauced, or eaten raw. They are often added to Indian chutneys and smoothies. Green mangos can be shredded and made into salad or served to accompany fatty meats.
Factoids:
Mango peels and branches contain urushiol, the same chemical in poison ivy and poison sumac causing rashes.
