Physical Description:
Melons grow on creeping, hairy vines with large serrated leaves similar to oak leaves.
Usage:
Melons are generally eaten fresh and sliced, but you can add chilies, lemon juice or liquor to them if you want to "improve" the flavor. The seeds can be dried and roasted for a delicious snack.
Factoids:
Melon Day is an annual Turkmenistani holiday, celebrated on the second Sunday in August. The festivities include a large display of the Turkmenbashi melon (named after their first president), music and dance.
