All Season Fruit Bowl

Have a lot of mouths to feed? Looking for a wonderful snack that never grows old? The all season fruit bowl can be served throughout the year for numerous occasions or celebrations. Fruits can be substituted for whatever is in season, and you will have your guest coming back for more!

Serves 16

Ingredients

2 cups water
1 1/2 cups sugar or sweetened to taste
1/3 cup lime or lemon juice
1 teaspoon anise extract
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 oranges, peeled and sectioned
3 kiwifruit, peeled and sliced
2 grapefruit, peeled and sectioned
2 large apples, cubed
1 pint strawberries, sliced
1 pound seedless green grapes
1 whole pineapple, peeled and chunked

Directions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine water, sugar, lime juice, anise and salt.
  2. Bring to a boil over medium heat; cook for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Remove from the heat; cover and refrigerate for 6 hours or overnight.
  4. Combine fruit in a large bowl; add dressing and toss to coat.
  5. Cover and chill for at least 1 hour.
