Green Fest '09 - it's not just for hippies!

The Fruit Girls had a smashing time at the San Francisco Green Fest! We met all kinds of interesting people - including San Francisco's mayor Gavin Newsom - who are working in the arena of sustainablility and green business! We talked to Mayor Newsom for a while, especially about urban food security and healthy foods for low income residents. He was polite, and very sweet! He said he has heard of Neighborhood Fruit and that he loves the idea!

In addition to flirting with the mayor, Oriana also met this hottie.....who was nearly sweating to death in his costume made out of 500 plastic bags.

We also got to check out all kinds of fun products and services that comprise innovative solutions for a greener life, check out this "Nomad Chicken Pad"!

Here we are with our friends over at Sharable.net, who was sharing a booth with Neighborhood Fruit friend and lawyer, Janelle Orsi, author of the Sharing Solution from Nolo Press. Speaking of sharing, there's a super cool new service Rentalic.com, which allows you to rent tool and equipment from your neighbors.

Speaking of cool products, we found these cool bowls (made out of sugar or something, for the garden), a sustainable (and beautiful) wedding dress manufacturer, and a non-toxic sustainable paint company! There were several new manufacturers of living machines for the home, which we totally want for Christmas *hint*!
