The White House Plants Winter Garden!

"If you do it smart, you can grow year-round", says Kathleen Merrigan, USDA Deputy Secretary.

The White House winter garden is planted using inexpensive cover called a high tunnel or hoop house over your crops. The sun warms the garden during the day and traps heat in for overnight protection. A hoop house is made of a set of metal bars over the beds, and a fabric or plastic pulled tight around the bars.
