Physical Description:
Peach trees have thin, bright green, heart-shaped leaves, and grow on smallish trees with grey-brown bark.
Usage:
Peaches are easy to bruise, so store them in hard-sided containers! They are great eaten raw or on salads, and they can be made into jams, jellies and syrups.
Factoids:
Peaches were eaten by the ancient Chinese gods because they granted longevity. Momotaro, a Japanese hero, was said to be born of a large peach floating in a stream; he then went on to fight evil oni (demons) and have many adventures.
