Physical Description:
Pomegranates grow on medium sized trees with narrow, pointed leaves with crinkly edges. The flowers are bright red.
Usage:
Pomegranates are a tart and tangy and are great on salads, eaten raw. They can be squished in an orange juicer to make a delicious juice.
Factoids:
When Persephone was kidnapped by Hades and taken to the underworld, her mother, Demeter was in mourning and caused all the world to grow cold and barren. Persephone ended up eating six pomegranate seeds, which is why we now have winter every year, according to Greek mythology.
