Physical Description:
Quince grow on warped trees with thin, shiny, pointy, textured leaves that are green tinged with red. Quince are ripe when they are yellow and hard.
Usage:
Because Quince are quite sour, most people prefer to cook them. They turn bright red during prolonged stewing, and make a great addition to any recipe that involves cooking Apples or Pears.
Factoids:
Marmelo is the name for Quince in Portuguese. The word "marmalade" is derived from this word, originally meaning quince jam.
