Latin Name: 

Annona squamosa

Physical Description: 

Soursop trees have thick, pointed, bright green leaves. The fruit resemble spiny green Cherimoyas.

Usage: 

They are delicious eaten fresh, or juiced and added to an Agua Fresca. They also make great ice creams, candy and desserts.

Factoids: 

In the Caribbean, soursop leaves are placed under sleeping patients to break a fever. Studies have suggested that high levels of consumption of soursop can possibly lead to an atypical form of Parkinson's disease.
