Tangerine trees are smallish, with long, shiny, dark-green pointed leaves similar to other citrus. Tangerines grow in clusters. This orange colored citrus is smaller, less tart and easier to peel than oranges.
Usage:
Most often eaten fresh, tangerines are perfect "pocket fruit". They also are delicious juiced, and the skin is delicious infused into vodka.
Factoids:
Tangerines, cultivated for over 3,000 years in China and Japan, made their way to Europe in 19th century through Tangier, Morocco - where they got their name!
